Zanzibar-American Association (ZANAMA, in short) is a community organization for people with Zanzibari origin presently living in United States of America . ZANZIBAR is made up of two main islands (Unguja and Pemba) and several smaller ones off the coast of East Africa. Zanzibar has always been a beacon of freedom, civilization and culture to the whole of East and Central Africa.Objectives ZANAMA Shall: A) Help Zanzibari Community to obtain housing, jobs, health care and other services; to assist with immigration and legal issues. B) To Unite Zanzibaris reside in USA to assist in organizing recreational, sports and cultural activities. C) Provide a forum
in which people of Zanzibar living in USA
and friends of Zanzibar,
can meet and discuss ways to
support the democratization process and economic development in Zanzibar. D) Assist Zanzibar with pressing development issues, especially in the field of education. E) Provide a forum for communicating and articulating
ZANAMA's position on the various issues
affecting the Zanzibar people to the world community. F) Promote the rule of just law, enlightened and mature
political leadership and democratic governance in Zanzibar
that guarantees the participation of the public in the process of
government. G) Provide a forum for the sharing of the unique Zanzibari
cultural heritage in all its diversity and particularly inculcate in Zanzibari
born abroad the rich history and ethos of the people in their land of ancestry. H) Promote understanding, cooperation, love and harmony among Zanzibaris abroad and their friends, and represent and protect their interests with all due diligence.
